Nieuwe kaart van Ysland

Zorgdrager was a Dutch captain who visited Iceland in 1699. A while later he wrote a book about fishing in the northern seas and the neighbouring countries called Bloeyende opkomst der aloude en hedendaagsche Groenlandsche Visschery. It has lot of information about Iceland and a separate map of the country. The shape is of the Dutch sea chart type but the place-names (about 120) are derived from some version of the map by Gudbrandur Thorláksson.
The map was reprinted several times in Dutch and German versions of the book sometimes after new plates. The map also accompanied other printed books up to the year 1800, usually books on fishing in the North. It appears for example in Nieuwe beschryving der walvisvangst en haringvisscherij (1791) and in Histoire des peches ... (1800) by Bernard de Reste.
