Charte von Island

Gliemann's model was Moritz L. Born's map of Iceland. We can see that on the shape of the country and the spelling of the some of the place-names. Although the map is smaller than the one by Born it is more detailed and has more place-names. The material added by Gliemann is mostly in places where Born's version is lacking. It is probably taken from the maps of Jón Eiríksson and Ólafur Olavius, and Ebenezer Henderson.
The map of Iceland by Theodor Gliemann appeared for the first time in Geographische Beschreibung von Island. In 1827 it accompanied a travel book by F. A. L. Thienemann and G. B. Günther.
