The map accompanied Isaac de la Peyrère's book about Greenland, probably the German edition, Ausführliche Beschreibung, which was published in Nuremberg 1679. The map's purpose was to depict Greenland, not Iceland. Iceland lies north of Scotland and is rather poorly drawn. At the bottom of the page we can see pictures from the countries' nature and wildlife.
