In the beginning of the 17th century publishing started in the Netherlands of a reduced version, Atlas Minor, of Gerhard Mercator's map collection. In the year 1628 a new edition of the atlas was published by Johannes Janssonius with re-engraved maps by Petrus Kaerius and Abraham Goos.
