The family name was Jacobsz but they used Lootsman to distinguish themselves from others with the same name. From their hand there are several collections of charts that were published in various languages. Iceland appears on a few of them including this special map which seems to derive from Van Keulen."

Ættarnafn feðganna var í rauninni Jacobsz en þeir notuðu Lootsman til að skilja sig frá öðrum með sama nafn. Frá hendi þeirra eru nokkur söfn sjókorta sem komu út á ýmsum tungumálum. Íslandi bregður fyrir á nokkrum korta feðganna, þ. á m. á þessu sérkorti. Kortið virðist gert eftir uppdráttum Van Keulens eða eiga sameiginlegan uppruna með þeim. Vestfirðir eru orðnir að tveimur skögum og stefnir hinn syðri í vestur en hinn nyrðri til norðurs. "
