Sebastian Münster's Cosmography was published by his stepson, Henri Petri. When he died in 1579 his son Sebastian took over. He thought it was about time that the maps in the book were renewed before it was published again. It is not known who did the work but he made 26 maps based on Theatrum orbis terrarum by Abraham Ortelius. They first appeared in the 1588 edition the Cosmography. The map is very like Ortelius' map of the Northern Countries because that map was the model.
