Carte réduite des côtes septentrionales d'Islande. Depuis le Cap Nord jusqu'à l'Ile Malmey

Publication year:
During the 19th century French ships were frequent visitors on the fishing grounds around Iceland. The French, like the Danes, needed reliable charts of the coast of Iceland. Therefore it was not surprising that the naval authorities in France should publish copies of the new coastal charts as soon as they came out. The French version dates from the year 1822 to 1836. It is in the same scale as the Danish charts and very similar in most respects. The maps made in France were only intended for seafarers and therefore they are not as decorative as the originals.
